Jazzing Delhi

Nowadays Delhi, considered one of the buzzing hubs for cultural activities in the country, the recent big hip hop from Akon to more romantic and fusional Jazz, it’s shuffling between contemporary and bollywood beats to more international melodiousness. The 3 day festival held last month exhibited some best talented international performers.

The line-up of bands comprised of some distinguished artists in diverse crews. An interesting and distinct profile of 9 jazz bands from different countries including Sweden mesmerized the people for the very first time in this big festival of its kind in capital. Seriously for Delhites it’s a different genre of music in comparison with Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore where people generally take interest.

Jump4Joy- The popular and the most appealing award winning Swedish band played at the festival was enormously appreciated by the people & they couldn’t resist themselves to jump in joy. The band is known to have travelled across the world delivering jazz and ska music (a kind of pop music in Jamaica) with the saxophone

Ulf Sandström the numero uno representative of “Jump4Joy” is versatile artist and hypnotizer, sings lead vocals, plays piano and organ with extraordinary humor and bizarre.

The group who earned noble appreciation and touring the globe twists with their own style of humor and touch for concerts, festivals, theatres, burlesque shows, dance events, corporate events, symphony arrangements and gospel choirs.

Talking about the crew Ulf said; “Our crew is a family, with cousins and sisters and brothers - sometimes we are the crew you saw, sometimes we are a different crew. After 4000 concerts it is nice to be flexible... like being able to have new family to Sunday dinner every once in a while....”

The current changing and drastic fusion of music in cinema and especially in Bollywood here in India, plays a big role in collaborating and twisting the new and world artists. As a versatile maestro he indicated “we would love to collaborate with Bollywood - I adore the Indian flavour of romantic extravaganza”.

The event held by the initiative from Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in promoting Delhi, as potential platform for global events where music plays a big role in signifying the cultural character of any global city.
